Physicians from throughout Cook County are invited to attend National and Local Breastfeeding Initiatives: Physicians' Update, a dinner event to unveil a new Illinois breastfeeding policy statement to physician stakeholders and to introduce Baby-Friendly hospital initiatives across Cook County.

Featuring presentations from:
  • Trish MacEnroe, Executive Director, and Liz Westwater, Project Manager, of Baby-Friendly U.S.A., speaking on Baby-Friendly hospitals and the role of physician champions in facilitating change
  • Bechara Choucair, MD, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, speaking on the importance of breastfeeding and the Baby-Friendly initiative through Healthy Places
  • Mary Dobbins, MD FAAP, National AAP Breastfeeding Coordinator, speaking on introducing a model Baby-Friendly designated hospital in Illinois
  • and more!
The event will be held at Rush University Medical Center's Professional Building, in Room 542 Brainard, located at 1725 W. Harrison St. in Chicago. Room 542 Brainard is on the 5th floor.

National and Local Breastfeeding Initiatives: Physicians' Update is being hosted by the Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics; the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and is co-sponsored by the Cook County Department of Public Health's Committees Putting Prevention to Work and the Chicago Department of Public Health's Healthy Places.
