Attend a training for health professionals and learn how to utilize clinical skills to support unaccompanied immigrants applying for asylum and other special visas. This training is sponsored by the Refugee Immigrant Child Health Initiative (RICHI) of the Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics and MacNeal Hospital. It is co-sponsored by the Coalition for Immigrant Mental Health, Loyola University Chicago, School of Social Work, Stritch School of Medicine, Center for Immigrant and Refugee Accompaniment, DePaul University, Department of Social Work, Advocate Children's Hospital, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Center for Global Health.

Training Highlights:

  • Human rights law, asylum law, and the critical role of the health professional in this process
  • Forensic and medical-legal documentation in immigration cases
  • Physical and psychological evidence of torture or other human rights abuses
  • Focus on issues specific to the evaluation of children
  • Best practices for collaboration between health professionals and attorneys
